How to setup your nutrition like a businessman
The performance nutrition system structure & how to use it effectively...
Look, I get it… The thought of having to count calories for the rest of your life, to weigh every single gram of food you put into your gullet, and to log every single one of those meals into a nutrition tracking app, is a depressing thought to say the least.
I know this to be true, because I feel the exact same way.
Most of the health & fitness space will make you feel like shit for not wanting to live your life this way, that you lack discipline and just ‘don’t want it bad enough’.
And while I think having the awareness of how many calories you need to fuel performance, how much protein you need to sufficiently recover from training and to dial in your micronutrient profile…
To do this on top of trying to progress your career, lead your family and lead an interesting life simultaneously is a tall task (and why most men inevitably fail to ever dial their nutrition meaningfully).
This is exactly why I am going to share with you a system I have used for the lethal physique protocol (which I will be releasing soon).
This sneak peak will cover how I’ve designed it, how it works, and even give you a concrete meal example that you can take away and apply after reading this article…
WHAT EVEN IS A HEALTH SYSTEM?
Most of you reading this (particularly those in business), understand the importance of building systems in order to grow their business successfully.
It prevents decision fatigue, allows you to hire & train employees and it’s main function overall is to improve efficiency.
Yet time & time again, when I audit what successful men in business are doing for their nutrition, there is 0 system in place.
And I get that, and the reason the ‘dieting’ space is forever changing, with new fads and gimmicks, is because it’s one of the most variable yet important systems to get right (and it’s hard to get right on top of a chaotic schedule).
We all need to eat and fuel performance, yet when you combine cultural aspects, eating out for dinner, having a family & kids to also feed, it’s typically a system that is very poorly designed. It’s not fucking easy to design a system that runs more or less on autopilot, especially for nutrition.
But I am going to teach you a method, that once you build it, will make your nutritional system exponentially more efficient.
APPLYING SYSTEMS THINKING TO NUTRITION
If we apply the same logic most men do toward their business, the most effective strategy I have found is to design specific meal recipes that have these specific ratios as their pillar
500 calories with ~35 grams of protein (which can be useful for females or those in a large calorie deficit)
750 calories with ~50 grams of protein (which will more realistically be used by the majority of you reading this article).
The carbohydrate and fat ratio’s matter far less in these examples, and the micronutrient content (vitamins & minerals within each meal) are also a secondary consideration.
WHY THESE RATIOS?
The easiest way to explain this is by using a simple example.
Let’s say your calorie and protein requirement is 2500kCal and 150g respectively.
If you consume 3x 750/50 meals, that leaves you with 2250kCal and 150g of protein as your total.
This gives you 250 grams to ‘spend’ however you like. Whether that’s eating fruit, dessert, it really doesn’t matter as it will be the 10% of your nutrition plan where anything goes.
So in theory, once you have a rolodex of recipes that fulfil these criteria, you don’t need to traditionally ‘count’ calories, yet you’re still being calorie aware based on the meals you’re actually eating.
BUT I CAN’T BE ASSED DOING THIS…
Well, that’s fine, because I am going to give you an example recipe (and have many more to come in the coming months), these are nutrition systems that I use for clients who are:
Bachelors (single or don’t have someone who can cook for them).
Don’t want to spend more than 15-20 minutes on food preparation.
Don’t want to eat college dog bowl food & actually care about the taste of what they are eating.
This will be one of the many examples I will have in the lethal physique protocol (which has been consuming my entire fucking life to build, but we are getting closer).
