I jump rope regularly and have a warmup routine that I do before training/competing of any kind that involves various jumping jack modifications adding up to 200 jumps by the time it’s done.

This post has made me want to jump more…

Underrated piece of tech - especially for grapplers

I agree really do not see many grapplers jumping rope, like you do in striking arts- especially muay Thai and boxing.

Rebounding is claimed to be better and more effective than running and most other forms of cardio.... It's just jumping without a rope! So add the rope and achieve more. Great article, you have inspired me and I'm in my 60's.

It honestly changed my life!

Another over looked benefit is lymphatic drainage.

A lot of people have gotten into rebounding, where you jump loosely, for draining lymph nodes and detoxing the body.

Jumping rope does exactly that while delivering all of the benefits you listed.

Jump rope supremacy!

I used to skip rope a lot when I was younger. There’s nothing like it, except maybe sprints.

I started skipping rope again four weeks ago. I have improved my endurance significantly.

This is an exercise that I will continue to do until I can’t anymore.

This is gold, adding more jump rope to my routine

Lethal, lethal, lethal. I will start immediately

Totally agree! From experience, I would recommend anyone just starting out to get a relatively inexpensive mat/pad off Amazon to jump on. Shin splints can be an issue that sidetracks your jump rope journey prematurely.

Even if you are doing with shoes on?

Not a man but I was obsessed with jump rope last summer. It literally called me into the back garden and I’d spend nearly an hour just jumping. Something about the rhythm and coordination demands just grips you.

One of the best pieces of training equipment hands down.

This is great!

I recently sprained my ankle and now I am back into training.

It’s important ti stay dageeous as a man.

I started the use of the jump ropes when I learned about the 10 minutes equivalent to 30 minutes of jogging as a result of moving to a cold state and it making it hard to go out plus helping on the sprint. Everything else listed here is a plus I didn’t know but makes sense.

Great informative article. I'm training to dunk a basketball and will definitely add this to my training.
